the old testament

frankly, i neglect the old testament at all for a couple reasons.
- now is now
- MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more applicable to my life.

these are the two main reasons. there are some more but they had no substance so i shunned them from this blog.

the new testament seems to teach me more about how to be a good christian and that pulls me closer toward it. the old testament however has old rules which are now in the new testament are changed or "revolutionized" which led me to believe they are out dated and wrong.

me gravating towards the new testaments not meant to be. both testaments are equally important, just simply different.

G'night

i just deleted my other comment cuz i already talked to you on the phone about it. Anyway, i suspect that you and mursdot are n00b~ lol~ Sorry, i'm just fooling but honestly, most n00bs miss the point of the OT. If you don't get the old testament i can guarantee you don't appreciate the new testament for what it truly is.

Jesus came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. He is what the OT talked about and if you don't know the OT then you don't get why Jesus is so important.

Hey Chris, this is Bernard from church. I really enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for blessing me through your thoughts and reflections. But I thought I'd comment on this one partially because I really enjoy studying the Old Testament and I find the Old Testament language EXTREMELY RICH.

I do however do agree with you that the Old Testament and the NT are a lil different in nature; especially because the Old Testament has been prophesizing about the coming Messiah, whereas the NT talks about the Messiah's already arrival. But like Enoch i think the Old Testament sheds a lot of light to the New. Jesus also studied the Old Testament.

This is maybe my suggestion in finding Old Testament's applicability - that when you read the New Testament to look up Old Testament scriptures that support it. For example in Jesus' testmptation story in Matthew 4 there are 3 temptations and each time JEsus quoted from the book of Deuteronomy.

i know the reasons and the gist it just that i cant comprehend the OT the same way i do with the NT.
